A 20-MW coal-based power plant guarantees good reliability in production & cost for ICS. Wuxi Guolian Huaguang Power Engineering Co.Ltd, China, was engaged as contractor for the power plant consisting of 2×75 TPH boilers, 1×20 MW turbine and other utilities. State-of-art technology, Circulating Fluidized Bed (CFBC) coal fired boilers were selected. CFBC Technology operates on lower temperature with higher efficiency and minimum emissions compared to conventional boilers. Highly efficient electrostatic precipitators with four fields were included in the project to comply with environment norms and regulations.

Power plant is very well connected to supply steam and power to acid plant & mines and also surplus power to Senelec. Coal is imported and from Dakar port it is delivered to plant by train. ICS has long-term agreement with cement companies for supply of fly ash that gets generated.

Project was officially inaugurated on 16th Dec 2016 by the Hon’ble President of Senegal.
